Materials

Many people ask me what materials I use for my drawings, below is a list of materials I use and recommend. I draw "Mixed Media" means I mixed different materials for my drawings.

Faber-Castell Polychromos

Set of 36 for beginners

My favorites! I draw every picture with these pencils, they are perfect for fine highlights as the leads are hard enough and soft enough for larger areas. The colors are lightfast, long-lasting and bright. For me, clearly my number 1 and a clear recommendation to anyone who wants to learn detailed colored pencil drawings.

Faber-Castell Polychromos

Set of 120

Prismacolor Premier

150 pack

I don't use the Prismacolor Premier colored pencils for fine details, because they are not suitable for that, because the very soft end of the pencils means that you only have to sharpen them, as they wear out far too quickly. However, they are excellently suited for coarser surfaces. In terms of painting behavior, they are very similar to wax crayons. A notable difference to all pens is that their luminosity is unbeatable. I like to use the prisms as a base, as a kind of first layer of color or for blending, sometimes also for coloring large-area illustrations.

Caran d'Ache Luminance

The Luminance are clearly the Ferrari of colored pencils. On the one hand they are super soft and soft when drawing and on the other hand because they are very expensive. I mainly use it to blend my layers, which creates a super soft and even finish, which I don't think any other colored pencil can do.

Take a look at my fur drawings, they all always have a soft finish, which comes from blending with the Luminance.

It's best to start with the small set and buy the pens individually that I need. I usually only need the light tones, especially white, which is also used in EVERY one of my drawings.

Ohuhu Markers

Set of 72

My favorite of the markers. In terms of quality, they hardly differ from the Copic markers for me. Value for money is unsc herebeatable! The brush tip is particularly great, which gives you a soft application.

I like to use them as a base for mixed media, then I work over them with colored pencils.

Ohuhu Markers

Set of 216

I use this equipment. Recommended if you decide to work with Ohuhus, every color you need is here.

Paper

Strathmore Bristol

Smooth surface

my favourite. With this I create the most beautiful photorealistic drawings. In particular, fur markings can be perfectly created with this. However, the surface is very smooth, you need some practice if you want to work with this paper. Layers and working in the mixed media area works perfectly with this paper, only pastel cannot be processed with it, but the following paper is well suited for it...

Fabriano Artistico

Hot pressed

My 2nd favourite. As described above, I worked with this paper when pastel is used. The surface is a little rougher, so Pastel sticks much better on this paper. I only use pastel for priming, I always draw the subtleties with colored pencils.

Pastel

PanPastel

my favourite. I use the PanPastel for the first layer of my fur drawings. The pastels are very fine and soft. The color is applied with a sponge and the structure of the fur is already slightly specified. The use of Panpastel results in a soft fur at the end.

Jaxell Pastel Chalk

If I want to draw in a few finer details with pastel, then I use Jaxel's pastel crayonl.
